There is no single opinion concerning the market volume at the express delivery market. Most assessments which are given by the market players fall within the range of $200 – 500 mln., though these assessments are underestimated, according to the specialists of «Express-Obzor».

The companies of the so-called “Big Four” (DHL, TNT Express, United Parcel Service, Federal express) occupies less than the half. In 2006 the market share belonging to the companies of “big four” made up only 41% of the market volume in value terms. At that, only three companies of “big four” make a considerable contribution to the turnover of the Russian express delivery market. Most leaders of the market are Russian players. These are the following companies: EMS Pochta Rossii, Pony Express, Armadillo and SPSR-Express (given in the alphabetical order). The five largest players control more than half of the express delivery market; at that 27% of the market belongs to DHL, and the second, third, fourth and fifth places belong to Russian companies.
